Pedder & Scampton prepared a School Development Plan to create a long term strategy for the buildings of Thornhill Primary School, Islington. We also worked with artists to develop detailed ideas with the children and the parent group to revitalise the barren, tarmac playgrounds. The designs were constructed in phases and include a mural and climbing wall, a new school entrance gate, and an outdoor classroom. These now provide a stronger identity for the school and a better environment for the whole school community. More activities are now enabled in both hard and soft landscaped areas to support ‘learning through play’ and the school curriculum.
