This competition entry for a new clubhouse for Ullswater Yacht Club proposes a building with a distinctive undulating ribbon roof profile set against the beautiful views of the lake and the fells beyond.  A tough, flood resistant, ground floor consists of a series of boxes that are pulled apart to give views of the lake and to allow flood water to run through.  This creates a working area related to the lake and the boats with adjacent changing rooms and storage.  The lighter first floor, above flood level, accommodates the main clubhouse and bar under a series of irregular pitched roofs.  Largely glazed walls and a generous verandah give grandstand views up and down the lake.
