Autism/Disabilities

Pedder & Scampton has a developing expertise in design for people with autism and other special needs. We have designed projects for people with special needs of all kinds including autism, dementia and physical disabilities.  Many are for several user groups with different, and sometimes conflicting, needs.  Our projects include private housing, supported social housing and community and education projects including training buildings and centres where individuals can access specialist services. We have given papers at a number of conferences including the National Autistic Society 'Design for Autism' Conference, and have a presentation on 'Design for Autism' that we offer to local authorities, housing associations and anyone else who might be interested.  We have a close relationship with a local Asperger support group who are kind enough to 'crit' our design proposals, and tie ups with a number of specialist autism advisors.
