Despite limited opportunities in central London to construct new buildings, Pedder & Scampton has completed several. We enjoy the opportunity to produce designs that integrate the internal and external appearance of buildings using modern, sustainable materials and contemporary construction techniques. For example, our new house in Swiss Cottage, London, was described by Camden planning department as an exemplary case of contemporary design within a conservation area.

Our proposals for a penthouse flat/workspace in Fitzrovia required extended planning negotiations to achieve consent for a contemporary pavilion building. This was constructed from prefabricated structural timber panels that were bolted together on site with minimal disruption to the offices below.

The project for a new Studio at the end of an Islington garden created a dual purpose studio/guest room. It appears as a calm wooden box hidden within a simple brick shell.

Recent projects have included the design of a two bedroom house on a challenging micro site in London, a new house and garden on a steeply sloping site with spectacular views in southern France and a London town house on a tight site built around an electrical substation.
