Horticultural Therapy Building, London
A new building in a London Park for a national charity which teaches gardening skills to those with physical and mental health difficulties. To be set within a new garden planted by the clients.
The design responds flexibly to the very particular needs of the building users. Rooms can be opened up or separated to suit the activities taking place. The strong building form identifies the Charity within the park and focuses on a large tree already on the site. This creates a number of different garden spaces relating to the spaces inside. The building has been designed in conjunction with Price and Myers Sustainability and is predicted to perform very well in this respect, using largely passive measures.
